About this deal

Have read the story many times and recently shared the book with my 9 year old and I wanted him to see the film too. Set in a small English town at the start of WWII, GOODNIGHT MISTER TOM stars John Thaw as Tom Oakley, who gets stuck with a shy young orphan named Willie Beech when the children of London are evacuated and sent to rural towns in preparation for the expected German bombings. The train which brings a group of evacuees including William to Little Weirwold at the outbreak of the War consisted of 7335 and three GWR Great Western Railway carriages, 5883, 9654 and 1086. The next morning at breakfast Zach is then killed in another air raid, and the news devastates Willie, causing him to withdraw from everyone.

We also sell a wide range of refurbished Mobile Phones and Tech from major brands like Apple, Samsung, Sony, Microsoft and much more. Set in a small English town at the start of WWII, Goodnight Mister Tom is based on Michelle Magorian's novel about a cantankerous WWI veteran named Tom Oakley (John Thaw), who, against his will, is paired with a London orphan named Willie Beech. You would not have seen an aerial of that type on a roof until the mid 1960's when BBC2 came into being. Most titles previously had a pressed release but have lapsed out of print and are now only available on these MOD discs.Beech has been made much more uneasy by the Blitz, and after an argument sparked by her discovery of the absence of the belt, she sends Willie to his room for the night. In September 1939, the United Kingdom declares war on Nazi Germany, and children are evacuated from London to the countryside for their safety. John Thaw (Inspector Morse, Kavanagh QC) stars as the widowed and cantankerous Tom Oakley in this charming film adaptation of the prize-winning children's novel by Michelle Mogorian.

Willie is a quiet, sad child with a deprived and disturbing past, but he slowly begins to flourish under the care of `Mister Tom` and enjoys an idyllic village life. Stelton wishes to take Willie to the children's home as he believes he needs psychiatric treatment, although he promises to attempt to trace any surviving relatives that Willie might have. It involved an elderly man, a widower who at first didn’t wish to be involved, but who grew to love the boy who he accommodated. When the Second World War is declared, Tom finds that his quiet life in the village of Little Weirwold is set to change when nine-year old Willie Beech (Nick Robinson) is evacuated from London and billeted on him.

Despite initial difficulties combined with his reluctance to care for Willie, Tom later takes pity on Willie after learning about his abusive upbringing by discovering the leather belt his mother used to beat him, which he throws into the garden, and does his best to create a suitable home for Willie, such as providing him with new clothes and helping to educate him. The outbreak of the Second World War sees nine-year-old Willie Beech (Nick Robinson) evacuated from London and billeted with crotchety widower Tom Oakley (Thaw) in the village of Little Weirwold. The filming will bring back a few memories for people who remember wartime Britain and certainly those who were evacuated out of London to escape the German bombings. I found this movie to be a moving drama of the war years, which reminded me of evacuation of children from cities which were being bombed to locations where they would be safe.John Thaw (Inspector Morse, Kavanagh QC) stars as the widowed and cantankerous Tom Oakley in this charming film adaptation of the prize-winning children`s novel by Michelle Mogorian. Tom soon realizes that his little boarder comes from a horribly abusive home, and determines to provide him a better one.
