About this deal

In general, you can determine the difference between different photographic paper finishes across the following dimensions: A glossy photo finish works well on photographs where color vibrancy is relevant. Some examples are landscapes or children’s portraits.

Metallic photo paper is a professional product offered to photographers by photo labs. This photo finish is printed on an aluminum panel. It comes with a unique pearlescent effect that provides exceptional detail and depth. Whether you are printing your photos at home or using an online photo service, one of the first issues you will come across is the type of paper to use for your prints: luster finish photo, matte photo prints, glossy print paper or a metallic finish. While today’s technology can really turn out some incredible digitally-pressed image reproduction, the colors still won’t be quite as true as when using photographic paper. Arctic Luster features a deep luster finish which offers the perfect balance between deeply saturated color and minimized gloss reflectivity. If you use pigment inks, this is especially helpful and will greatly reduce gloss differential and bronzing. True to its namesake, glossy paper has a strong coating that shines profusely. It is completely smooth (ie.no texture) and is strongly reflective.First, the paper is exposed to light inside the printer to produce the image. Next, just like with film, chemicals are used to “set” the image and eliminate the light sensitivity. Once finished, the images are then literally “inside” the paper. Both luster paper and pearl paper offer a beautiful finish, one with vivid colors, but without the smooth look of glossy paper. Also, keep in mind where you are planning on placing the prints. Glossy photos will be hard to view if placed in a bright room. In that case, lustre or matte papers are the best options.

Color Vibrancy - Refers to the extent of color saturation across the entire spectrum. Photographic paper with high color vibrancy brings out muted tones while avoiding over-saturation of those that are already colorful. B&H – B&H is a world renowned supplier of all the gear photographers, videographers, and cinematographers need and want to create their very best work. One serious bonus to photographic paper is that it uses the RGB color space – not CYMK. Because the RGB color space has a larger range of colors, images produced in this way will have much truer color than digitally pressed images. Having more options when selecting photo paper is great, but it can also get confusing. Here’s how to select the right paper based on the photo you plan to print and display. E-surface paper

Matte paper is a smooth photographic paper that gives your images a unique warmth and fine art feel. It’s excellent for displaying photos that must be displayed “naked” (not behind plastic/glass) in an environment where light reflections can be an issue. The colors have a more muted feel to them. This can be used to great effect in designs with a light or pastel color scheme. Your photo prints will last longer if you store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Also avoid touching the front of the prints with your fingers, as this can cause fingerprints and smudges. You can further protect your prints by placing them in photo sleeves or frames, or a quality photo album. Should you print your own photos or send them to a lab? Paper with a satin finish is smooth and soft, with a touch of gloss in the printed areas, but no gloss in the areas that have not been printed. It’s the most common finish for standard paper and works well in just about any setting. RC (resin-coated) photo paper is made with a thin layer of plastic on both sides, which makes it water-resistant and durable. FB (fiber-based) photo paper, in contrast, is made from pure cellulose fibers, which gives it a more traditional look and feel. FB photo paper is also more archival, meaning that it will last longer without fading. How can I make my photo prints last longer?
