About this deal

The history of Wonder Girl is a confusing one, but initially Diana was the first Wonder Girl. Makes sense — before Wonder Woman she would have been Wonder Girl, right? But eventually Wonder Girl became a mantle for other women in DC so it became weird trying to distinguish them, especially since in some issues Wonder Woman would interact with younger versions of herself. Nowadays, Wonder Girl is pretty much totally separate from Diana, but we still have to look at the original outfit. Should the grown Wonder Woman have kept her childhood duds? clvr I actually only have a realistic MIDI of one of my non acoustic song, but I'll link you as I'm recording it next week.

I also really like the chords they use as they give them that kind of unique style they have, they're very creative. Yeah man, I feel like there are a fair number of metaphors in Jon's lyrics, because of the end lyrics in "Betrayed by the Game" he says "Because I can say that it was all just a metaphor". I'd go into detail but this comment is so long already hahaAnd for the post-hardcore part, I put "new" in quotation marks cause I didn't know how to express what I meant 😅 I don't even know what to say about this choice of camera angle. How about, "Frank Cho would be proud?" We go from three entries ago, where we had a Wonder Woman outfit that seemed to be missing a few articles, to this costume from the ‘60s, which is so plain and covered up that it makes Diana almost indistinguishable from a civilian. Diana wore a lot of different casual outfits during this time, but the thing they all had in common was downplaying her former "All-American" side and making her blend in more. It was a smart strategy in the context of the storyline since Diana was trying to spy around to figure out who was framing Steve Trevor for murder. So she gave up her powers and her signature outfit for fashionable ‘60s duds. I think the best proof of his ability is the Tree City Sessions live-in-studio album, it's crazy how he can sing Jonny's and Kurt's song with practically zero effort even in their highest points.

Yeah a distant project could be a really good idea! I bought a laptop a couple of months ago and promised to myself that I'd learn how to record/mix/edit and all that stuff but I still haven't begun, so it'll be some time before I can send you some vocals 😅 It's kinda weird coming from me, but often high pitched voices tend to grate me especially on first listen, I didn't even like Tilian at first and now I love how he sounds. Yeah I still get annoyed at some of his whinier vocals, but overall his timber and range are pretty unique. The way he sang in Tides Of Man I find more consistent in that regard. It's absurd how many genres and styles he's touched upon, and he's made a lot of stuff I hadn't heard from anyone before him (like his more electronic albums, for example Octopus Kool Aid and Un Corazón De Nadie). I heard them before it, but I think Mars Volta accrued a decent following after they were on one of the Guitar Hero games.

Do you mean the post-hardcore metalcore kind of thing like ermmm Asking Alexandria and that kind of thing? Never really dug that style, myself. I did however listen to metalcore more as a pure thing, mostly August Burns Red, managed to catch their tour where they played Constellations start to finish which was great! Oh yeah! I see what you mean, now. Yeah, it pretty much transformed twice. I used to listen to a lot of the older bands like Envy, Sunny Day Real Estate and At the Drive In. I think Planes Mistaken for Stars were one of those bands in the middle area and maybe also Saetia if you've heard either of those. It kinda shows the earlier 'screamo' as people called it. I love Dance Gavin Dance! Jon Mess' lyrics are always entertaining xD One of several Bolland action covers featuring Wonder Woman battling various aliens and other assorted creatures. The '90s were an interesting time in comics, with the stories trying to reflect the discontent that the decade as a whole was known for. So, someone like Wonder Woman as we knew her, clothed in the colors of the American flag and standing up for all that was good, wasn't considered cool. That's why, like Batman and Superman, Wonder Woman got a questionable makeover during this period that has certainly been remembered, albeit not fondly. As I said, they're really weird, self-indulgent and uncompromising, and that's what makes them so unique and impenetrable at times, and also why it took me some time to adjust to their sound and general weirdness lol

Haha I was actually gonna mention Hands Like Houses for the newer sound in my last comment. Also I listen to "Anchor" and "Warrior" by Secret and Whisper quite a lot! I listened to Sound of Animals some years ago but never got into them. I know they were a super group of some sorts. If I could trouble you once more for suggestions? Yeah, it's cool. I'll definitely be giving their catalogue a go now on my journeys. Currently listening to Cheval by Igorrr and there's nothing more self indulgent than that. XD

yeah you can generally get what he means, but oftentimes he's so out there it's hard to believe there's some deeper meaning beneath it 😅 Still, at times Deodato also lets the prurient art style run amok. There's no better example than when Artemis is brutally beaten by the White Magician. Artemis' Wonder Woman costume is ripped to shreds and she's tossed around like a well-endowed rag doll. And of course she maintains her alluring sensuality even when being pummeled. It reminds you of the "Death of Superman" showdown with Doomsday, except here it's filtered through a pure fanboy drool-worthy style. Eventually, her thong is just a string of fabric, held together by a few worn threads, and her bustier is torn to pieces, exposing huge portions of her breasts. In fact, Deodato strategically places the rips where nipples should appear—but if he was going to draw them in, DC editorial must've nixed the idea. Nevertheless, it's gratuitously executed, obviously meant to titillate. You can imagine the slobbering '90s male readers stammering, "Look, you can see her boobs!!" Ugh.Did you ever listen to Chiodos? They still get a lot of plays from me for how great 'The Bone Palace Ballet' was. Very mixed with a classical sort of sound. Though, songs like "All Nereid's Beware" from their first album are really fun to sing along to. With the Wonder Woman film now breaking box offices records and her popularity at an all-time high, Michael Campochiaroexplores a time when she wasn't handled nearly as progressively or sensitively as she is today.
