Dan and I had a very busy lab. At one point we serviced almost 70 dentists across the country. Obviously we’ve scaled that down as time has gone on – a lot of the dentists either sold their practices, retired, or in some cases passed away, and eventually my dad also retired. Powers is indeed a legend in his own time, but wholly inappropriate in a way that feels harmless by ‘90s standards. He remains so happy, even while trying to save the world. Objective To compare oral health in the US and England and to assess levels of educational and income related oral health inequalities between both countries. For the most part, they will come and see us. I step out of my regular role as a dental technician and I become a makeup artist, albeit one that just specializes in teeth. I take all my own impressions when it comes to doing film work and I will sit down with the makeup artists, producers, directors, whoever is in the process, and we’ll design what they’re looking for. The hardest part sometimes is to get what’s in their head down on paper so I can create what I think they want. There’s a little bit of trial-and-error that goes into that. Sometimes we make two or three different pieces that they can choose from. Is it enjoyable making smiles scary instead of beautiful? Was switching gears like that difficult to get used to?

I’ve done national McDonald’s commercials with young kids with sets of braces. Commercials are always fun because they’re something different. That reminds me of a friend in the US who had a car accident but couldn’t afford to go to hospital. When it comes to teeth, we’re almost as bad.
